On the surface it may be similar to so many other multi-route high-school slice-of-life dating sims, but it still adds in an extra element to make it stand out as unique. While there were times that it dragged, overall it managed to retain my interest for the majority of its running time. Of course, that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it… quite the opposite in fact. My reaction to starting Extra should be pretty easy to guess to say the least, I caught entirely off guard by the complete lack of any sort of battle mechs.Ĭontinued after the spoiler tag… Show Spoiler ▼ I dove into Muv-Luv with no real knowledge of what to expect – the entirety of the information on the subject I possessed at the time was that it involved mecha ( and yes, that does mean I was completely unaware of certain scenes in Alternative until they crept up on me).
While we’ll try to be as thorough as possible with our thoughts, we’ll also try to ensure to keep spoilers to an absolute minimum so we ask that you kindly do the same when making a comment ( and make good use the spoiler tags)! Muv-Luv Extra Our primary aim with this post ( which will be split into sections for Extra, Unlimited, and Alternative per their chronological order) is to give our impressions on the series, try to convince you that these are definitely visual novels you need to play, and to give you some sort of idea of what to expect from Total Eclipse this coming season. To be frank, having finished the series, I can’t believe I didn’t do so sooner. For me, it’s been something I’ve long intended to do but always found myself sidetracked by other VNs, games and anime. In light of this, both Zephyr and I (Moomba) took it upon ourselves to finally buckle down and play through the series.
#Muv luv unlimited ayamine choices series
It’s been quite some time since the two main instalments in the series were released, but it still maintains a loyally dedicated fanbase, partially because of its awesome TSF ( mecha) designs and partially because of its cleverly constructed and emotionally gripping story.Īs you may be aware, an adaption of the spinoff VN Muv-Luv Alternative – Total Eclipse is scheduled to air this summer. Given that it’s ‘the greatest VN series ever written’ ( depending on whom you ask) and that Muv-Luv Alternative is ranked number one in the visual novel database it would be no surprise to have been exposed to it. It's a must-have for every fan of visual novel genre.I’m sure many people have heard the name Muv-Luv bandied around at some point. Of course it goes without saying that I am a huge fan of this series and I recommend it for everyone. Last thing - this new release has a much better interface than it's original. I understand the decision but still - it's a huge loss for the game. I gave this game 9 out of 10 because Degica decided not to include in this game one of its most beloved soundtrack which was Warudakumi because it was pretty much based on Ricky Martin's Livin la vida loca. Music in this game is pretty good but it gets better in Alternative. I had a great fun playing this game and even its new release. You should now that in Muv-Luv series, additional characters play a huge part in its story so its pretty uncommon as visual novel genre goes. In Unlimited that number gets even bigger. In Extra it is about 8 without counting additional characters. Now about characters - there are a lot of main characters in this game. This visual novel is quite long and if you count both Extra and Unlimited then its super long. Let's just say that a famous anime called 'Attack on Titan' has been inspired by Muv-Luv Unlimited and Alternative. Unlimited however is a great one in that regard but I am not going to spoil anything. The game is great, the story is solid in Extra but it's difficult to write a better story about a normal boy in high school. I must admit that I was waiting for this release for a long time. Well I played Muv-Luv Extra and Unlimited long before its release on Steam.
